Bake

Output Path

Where to save the baked images. If Splat Map is active then this is also where the texture files will be copied over to.

Image Prefix

What to put in front of the output images to ensure they don't overwrite anything.

Resolution

How detailed you want your baked images.

UV Map Source

From where to pull UV Map information.

UV Map

Choose from existing UV Maps or add a new one in.

UV Attribute

Choose from exisitng attributes or add in a new one.

Clear

Whether to clear the image before baking. If disabled the bake will be added on top of the existing image which can be useful for baking out multiple layers onto the same texture maps.

Splat Map

  1. Ensure your scene is setup the way you want it.
  2. In the Bake panel under the Shader tab set your Export Type to Splat Map
  3. Set your Output Path
  4. Put in an Image Prefix to distinguish this bake from others you may have saved to the Output Path
  5. Set your Resolution (this is for the splat map only)
  6. If your terrain was created by TrueTERRAIN (ie is geometry nodes) set the UV Map Source to Attribute.
  7. Ensure all layers you want to have access to are visible via the ROOT group layer and not inside other group layers.
  8. For each layer you want exported click the toggle to the left and choose a color channel (black, red, green, blue, alpha) for that layer's mask to be represented by under the Splat Map Settings.
  9. If you want higher or lower resolutions for a layer's textures, select that layer in the Splat Map Settings and then below it enable the Use Alt Quality Level toggle to choose a different quality level (resolution) when exporting the texture maps for that layer.
  10. Choose the target for baking
  11. Choose the file format of the splat map.
  12. Hit Bake and enjoy!

Bake out a colored mask and export the relevant textures to be masked onto the respective colors.

Here is a nice video explaining splat maps if you're unsure what they are or are for Splat Maps Explainer

Splat Map Target

Whether to bake out to an image or a vertex color map on the object.

Splat Map File Format

What format the baked image should be in.

Splat Map List

Here all your layers will be displayed. For each layer choose if it should be baked out and what color should be its mask.
